Dean Drinkard

Our car is an MGB Roadster, 1972, Harvest Gold, originally purchased
brand-new for $4129 (including dealer installed A/C) at Marietta, GA in
July, 1972, by my future wife, Barbara. (And everybody knows how we are
about our British cars...did I marry her for love or for the MG? --just
kidding!) Having previously owned and worked on a 1963 MGB, I tried my
best, but not always successfully, to keep Barbara's B running. In 1991
we moved from Atlanta to Birmingham. The MGB had not run for at least a
year at the time, but was shipped to Birmingham and sat in our basement
for several more years. After several sporadic attempts by me in the
mid-90's to rebuild the brake system, clutch hydraulics and SU HIF
carburettors, we gave up and had it put back in running order in May
1996 by British Car Repair in Leeds. I bought a complete interior kit
probably 8 years ago, and have managed so far to do the
seats. As with all our British cars there are untold numbers
of things yet to do. After 36 years with a one-owner car, we can't stop
now!
