Bob Selby - Triumph

Our little TR6, Magymae, is really a part of the family.  My brother, Jack, bought her in 1977 as his daily driver in Fairhope, Al.  10 years later his oldest daughter, Sharon, became the proud owner and named her Magymae.  She enjoyed many weekend rides to the beach and around the Gulf Coast area.  In 2005 we brought Magymae to Hoover,  and began her 5 year restoration.  The plan is a rolling restoration and she has been very reliable.  The first modification was to replace the well worn out original seats.  My 6' 3" frame did not fit well and the quickest remedy was installing Miata seats.  We fabricated 3" wide adaptor plates and relocated the seats as far to the rear as possible to give me a little knee room.  Rebuild of the entire brake system was done at about the same time along with new 205/15 tires to replace the too big & dry rotted 215/15 tires.  Last spring the engine was pulled for a complete overhaul with a new road cam.  This rebuild was a disaster due to an incompetent mechanic.  A replacement block was located and she now has 2000 miles on the "new" engine and is doing quite well.  While the engine was out, we brought Magymae back home and painted the engine bay with her soon-to-be new color Sapphire Blue.  In October she made a homecoming drive (not a trailer queen) to the British Car Show in Fairhope.  She took 3rd place in her TR6 Class!  So, as we complete the first round of mechanical restoration we look forward to tackling the body and interior. She will have the new blue paint along with a tan interior and hood.  It's just a matter of time and $$ to get this completed. Then, maybe a Toyota 5 speed and a Nissan differential.  Almost forgot - she has a new stable mate - Caryann - a 1979 Spitfire "Project."
